Setting Up A Message Source In VisNetic MailFlow
This article explains the necessary steps to configure VisNetic MailFlow to
collect messages from a POP3 source. To complete the following steps, VisNetic
MailFlow needs to have access to a POP3 account on a mail server, either local
or remote.
From the VisNetic MailFlow Interface:
- Click the Administration link
- Click the Message Sources link under the Message Handling section
- Click the New button on the Message Sources toolbar
- Check the Enabled option box
- Verify Type: is POP3
- Enter the POP3 server IP address or DNS name to collect messages from
- Default port for POP3 mail is 110
- Enter the User Name of the POP3 account
- Enter the Password of the POP3 account
- IF the account requires APOP then check the box for Use APOP. You
would have to verify this with the POP3 server's administrator.
- IF you want to leave copies of the messages on the POP3 server check the
box Leave Copies ON Server
- Default Check Interval is 5 minutes. This can be adjusted to the desired
interval to check for new messages on the POP3 server.
- Default Connection Timeout is 75 seconds. This is the alloted time for the
remote server to respond before closing the connection.
- Default Max Message Size is 5000 kb. This setting is the maximum size per
message VisNetic MailFlow will download.
- The Message Destination is if you want message replies be delivered to a
particular server other than the default SMTP server.
- Click the Test Login button on the New Message Sources toolbar. If
the login is successful a Test successful message will be prompted by a
message in a popup window.
- Click the Save button on the Message Source toolbar
