 Manually Configure Aastra (67)51i, (67)53i, (67)55i, (67)57i
Solution

Note 1: This article has been tested with firmware version 2.5.2.1010. Be aware that different firmware revisions may have different web interface formats and functionality.

Note 2: This article is based on a new phone OR one that has been reset to factory defaults. If in doubt, reset the phone to Factory Defaults.

The preferred method to configure an AAstra phone is via Provisioning. You can however follow this guide to manually configure your phone.

Configuring the Phone to Register with 3CX PhoneSystem

  1. Start up the phone and identify its IP Address - using the menu key on the phone, go to the "Administrator Menu" option, key in your password (default password "22222"). Select "Network Settings" followed by "IP Address". For this example we will assume the IP Address of the phone is 10.0.0.109, and IP Address of the 3CX PhoneSystem machine is 10.0.0.11.
  2. Point your browser to the web interface of the phone: http://10.0.0.109
  3. Enter the login credentials (default username "admin"; default password "22222")
  4. We now need to set the phone to register with 3CX PhoneSystem. Click on the "Line 1" tab, and configure as follows:

    a. In the "Basic SIP Authentication Settings" section:

        i. Set the "Screen Name" field to the name you want to appear on the phone display.
ii. Set the "Phone Number" field and the "Caller ID" to the extension number you want to associate with this phone
iii. Set the "Authentication Name" field to the extension's Authentication ID
iv. Set the "Password" field to the extension's Authentication Password

    b. In the "Basic SIP Network Settings" section:

    i. Set the "Proxy Server" field and the "Registrar Server" field to the IP or the FQDN of the server where the 3CX phone system is installed. (If you would like to specify the FQDN of the 3CX Phone System machine instead of the IP Address, please review this article first)
ii. Set the "Proxy Port" field and the "Registrar Port" field to 5060, which is the default - you can check the correct value from the "Settings -> Network" page in the 3CX Management Console)

  5. Go to the "Global SIP" page.

    a. We need to adjust audio parameters. In the "RTP Settings" section:
        i. Set the "Force RFC2833 Out-of-Band DTMF" field to "Enabled"
ii. Set the "DTMF Method" field to RTP

    b. We need to also configure MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) settings. In the "Advanced SIP Settings" section:

    i. Enable the "Explicit MWI Subscription" checkbox.
ii. Set the "Explicit MWI Subscription Period" field to a value that you feel is suitable for your network. A reasonable value would be 1800 (half an hour).

  6. Press "Save settings" to save configuration in current page.

  7. Now we need to configure the phone to handle the paging functionality. Go to the "Preferences" page and scroll down to the "Incoming Intercom Settings" section:

    a. Set the "Auto-Answer" field to enabled
    b. Set the "Microphone Mute" field to disabled
    c. Set the "Play Warning Tone" field to enabled
    d. Set the "Allow Barge In" field to enabled

  8. Configuration is now complete please select "Reset" in the menu and click Restart. After rebooting, the phone will register with the 3CX Phone System. This can be verified via the "Extension Status" page of the 3CX Management Console.
