 DNS2Go icon does not start on Vista or Windows 7 - DNS2GoClient.exe set to run as administrator
Solution This article ONLY applies to DNS2Go installations for version 4.3.0 or higher where you were instructed by a Deerfield Representative to set the DNS2GoClient.exe executable to run as an administrator. The installation of DNS2Go 4.3.0 or higher over previous versions of DNS2Go on Vista and Windows 7 may require that you do not run the DNS2Go Client executable as an administrator.

If the DNS2Go icon does not appear in the system tray after installing DNS2Go version 4.3.0 or higher and after rebooting Vista or Windows 7 follow these steps to correct this issue.

1. Right click the Windows Start button and select Open Windows Explore (or press Window Key + e) to open Windows Explorer.

2. Navigate to the installation path for DNS2Go, default location is,

C:\Program Files\Deerfield.com\DNS2Go\

3. Right click the DNS2GoClient.exe file and select Properties

Note: If your computer is not showing the file extension make sure you right click the file with the rocket ship icon and where Type is Application.

4. Select the Compatibility tab

5. If the option "Run this program as an administrator" under Privilege Level is selected uncheck it and press Apply or OK and this will allow the DNS2Go client to start after a reboot. If "Run this program as an administrator" is grayed out select button "Change settings for all users" and uncheck "Run this program as an administrator" and press OK, OK.

6. Reboot the computer and the DNS2Go icon will start automatically.
